Temperature sensor gets longer The latest temperature switch from ifm electronic has to be one of the neatest designs around, not just because it looks great, but it's so easy to use, too. Now ifm has addressed, literally, its one shortcoming: with a longer probe. Like it's popular pressure switch cousin the PK, on the TK the setting rings show where to set the output temperature: turn, then twist to lock and it's done. The desired switching temperature can be set on the bench or in the process – it doesn't need the medium. The Pt1000 element will provide lasting, reliable and accurate sensing of the temperature, while the device is of course all solid state and two clearly visible LEDs indicating the switching status and readiness for operation. With wetted parts in high-grade stainless steel corrosion won't be a problem. The TK is available now in five versions, with a temperature setting range between –25 and 140°C ( -13 and 284°F ) which have either two separate switch points with fixed hysteresis, or adjustable set and reset points. Now the original, 25mm length, probes have been joined by a 255mm-long probe for those awkward corners. As before, the response time at one second is as fast as most applications need. Operating voltage is 10 to 30V DC and both the outputs can handle 500mA. An ideal alternative to a mechanical switch, the TK series and accessories are available now from sensor market leader ifm electronic Ltd. For more information on TK temperature sensors click here
