A tough nut to crack As a market leading manufacturer in sensors and control technology ifm electronic understands the demand placed on the connectors their sensors are plugged into. The quality of the connection, mechanically and electrically, greatly influences the performance of the sensor. Hence the determination to provide fit-for-purpose connection for ifm’s application sensors. The latest offering in ifm's ecolink range is the EVM series. These share the ecolink highlights of an extremely secure mechanical connection, a perfectly optimised seal guaranteed by the design, so independent of the user's handling, and of course high quality materials The ecolink construction always ensures that the o-ring is compressed to exactly the right amount, neither too loose nor crushed, even without tools. The EVM range is designed for robust applications, as might be found for example in mobile machinery. They characterised by the ability to withstand temperatures from –40 degrees Celsius to +90 degrees. The coupling nut is stainless steel, and the o-ring and cable sheath are oil-resistant Viton and PUR respectively. Able to withstand high mechanical stresses, in this case over 5 million drag chain cycles, the EVM range will provide a seal of IP67, IP68 and IP69K, assuming of course a locked condition with matching counterpart. Versions include angled connectors with LED indication, and ifm realised that the LED visibility is paramount, creating a high-contrast and therefore visible solution. ecolink connectors – from the people who know.
