What a contrast In another addition to the popular O5 size photocell family, sensor market leader ifm electronic has just launched a contrast sensor, especially suitable for detecting print marks and particularly flat objects. Able to detect even very small differences in contrast, the sensor utilises its RGB light source and microprocessor to cleverly select the optimum transmitter colour to ensure maximum energy difference in the reflected light, and the simple pushbutton set-up saves time and additional costs during commissioning. The very high switching frequency of 10,000 Hz means a wide range of application even with a very short mark-to-space ratio can be addressed. Another clever feature of the O5 contrast sensor is the automatic recognition of the circuit it’s connected to, so it knows to switch pnp or npn. The user does not need to pre-select a correct version. An industry standard M12 connector is provided for the electrical connection, and a wide range of accessories guarantees fast and flexible fixing of the sensors.
