When the going gets tough… The latest pressure sensor range from specialists features a new all stainless-steel housing, and an improved sealing system with more fitting options. Eight models in the new PI27 series cover pressure spans from minus 0.05 to 1 bar or minus .0124 to 0.25 bar for example at the lower end up to minus 1 to 25 bar at the higher end. All models will switch PNP or NPN, with additional programmable output features such as an analogue signal. The new pressure sensors of the PI27 series have a highgrade stainless steel housing and a highly visible display. The new robust housing design is, in particular, distinguished by its resistance to cleaning agents used in the food and pharmaceutical industries, while the hygienic, flush design of the process connection with high-purity ceramic measuring cell places the new PI27 series pressure sensor firmly in the same domain. Lasered, captive type labels are natural for these sensors. The excellent features and characteristics of the former PI sensors are further enhanced by the new series: IP68 / IP 69K protection rating, hygienic design, high temperature resistance, high-purity ceramic measuring cell, high-quality materials (wetted parts) and last but not least intuitive operation, all as before but now featuring even greater accuracy down to 0.2%, and electronic temperature compensation. Another new feature of the PI27 series is ifm electronic’s own Aseptoflex Vario, new G 1 process connection with 4 sealing options. This has retained the advantage of the flexible Aseptoflex adaptation with metal-on-metal sealing and complemented that with a maintenance-free PEEK sealing. If, however the user prefers sealing by means of an O-ring, the same adapter can be used. In this case, the flexible disk spring ensures a reliable seal. The sealing between the housing and the process connection ensures that the sensor can also be screwed into the standard G 1 A thread sleeves using the common sealing technology. Various process adapters (clamp, DIN11851 pipe fitting, etc.) are available as accessories. A further feature of the PI is high temperature resistance, rendering it suitable for exposure to SIP and CIP processes The programmable analogue and switching output allows adjustment of the hysteresis or window, open or closed output logic, current output, damping, calibration of displayed values, display orientation or even deactivation, scaling and last but not least selection of the display unit (bar, PSI, kPa, % of the span). This truly versatile series of pressure sensors is available now from sensor specialist ifm electronic Ltd. For further information on PI27 pressure sensors
